Sometimes we don't know what we don't know. Being open to continuing education can help us all to see where our lives can be improved.
Classes
Being given a box of random food items does little to help if we don't know what to do with them. Our educational workshops cover everything from specific kinds of cuisine to food preservation. The more we know about food the better we can adapt to what is available and do the most with what we have.
Growing
We can come to you and help you develop a home specific plan to grow your own garden and get started in animal husbandry. Our volunteers even help coordinate small building projects and hands on learning.
Employment
One of our guiding principals involves finding a way for everyone to earn income. This might be helping you find the right apprenticeship or helping with college applications. It might be helping you navigate the world of cottage food laws and farmer's markets. Where ever your passion leads we are committed to helping you find a path to self reliance.
Our Impact
What we want to foster is culturing rural communities that grow and thrive without industrialization or gentrification. If we work towards self reliance in every home we will all be more confident to reach out and help each other. If we know our neighbors and support their efforts we will all be carried on the rising tides. Our efforts will bring food to all that need and work to all that can in an effort to eliminate food insecurity in rural counties across Florida.
