Food insecurity, not knowing where or when your next meal may come is a growing concern. We all see prices rise and product sizes shrinking, placing more and more people in a position where they have to make tough decisions. These issues hit people who work hard everyday and still are unable to make ends meet and they are underserved by traditional food banks.

One of the ways we strive to combat food insecurity in our rural communities is through education. To empower individuals served by the organization with the core goals of self-sufficiency and self improvement. Including but not limited to, home gardening workshops, instruction is cooking and nutrition and education that supports improved income opportunities.

One of our most important goals is to do the research and find out what the underlying causes of food insecurity are in any given rural community. Are there not enough jobs? Are county or city policies making it difficult for people to make a living on their land?
In order to find the answers and solve the problems we need to ask questions.
